Data and AI Use Policy
A plain-language explanation of how Skein handles media, account data, AI processing, retention, deletion, and future product expansion.
Last updated July 11, 2026
1. Scope
This policy explains how Skein handles the operational data behind creator editing, publishing, analytics, account linking, and future collective-management features.
2. Data classes
Creator data includes footage, audio, transcripts, captions, edit choices, metadata, publishing plans, and approval history.
Business data includes brand briefs, campaign notes, contract-related metadata, rates, deliverables, and communications.
Platform data includes OAuth tokens, account metadata, post performance data, audience metrics, and publishing permissions received from connected services.
3. Operational use
Skein uses creator data to produce edits, recommendations, packaging, scheduling plans, and analytics interpretations.
Skein uses business data to support campaigns, creator management, creator-collective operations, and future brand-deal workflows.
4. AI use commitments
Skein may send limited data to model providers and infrastructure partners to perform transcription, summarization, ranking, classification, packaging, or workflow assistance.
Skein's AI use is bounded by the product doctrine: no default face cloning, no synthetic creator replacement, and no impersonation workflows.
5. Human review and approvals
Skein is designed around approval gates. Drafts, packaging, brand content, and publishing actions should be reviewable and attributable to a real user, operator, or authorized team.
6. Retention and deletion
Project data may be retained to preserve creator workflows, export history, analytics comparisons, and audit trails.
Where product settings or law require deletion, Skein will work to remove data from active systems and, where practical, from downstream processors and backups on a reasonable timeline.
7. Cross-border processing
Skein and its service providers may process data in multiple jurisdictions. By using the service, you understand that your data may be transferred to places with different data protection laws.
8. Sensitive boundaries
If future workflows involve sensitive personal data, deeper audience profiling, voice features, face-related features, or brand-safety automation with material consequences, Skein will introduce additional controls, notices, and consent steps before rollout.
